Chelsea Grayson Named New CEO of American Apparel

Paula Schneider resigned as CEO of American Apparel. She served that post only since early 2015. Lawyer Chelsea Grayson has been named by the Board at new CEO. Ms. Grayson had been serving as the American Apparel General Counsel and Chief Administrative Officer.

We received a copy of the letter distributed to employees. The one page letter states somewhat cryptically that the reason for Ms. Schneider’s departure was, ” the Company has been evaluating strategic opportunities to fuel the growth and enormous potential of the brand. This process is ongoing, and we are committed to keeping you informed. As we move forward, Paula Schneider has decided to step down from her position as CEO.”

Ms. Schneider was thanked for her service and acknowledged for bringing the employees four paid holidays and a 401K.
They say business will continue as usual and it probably will. The letter continues, “business will continue as usual. Current salaries, hours, and payment schedules will be maintained. All employees will continue to report to their existing supervisors.”
They make great shirts and are pretty much the only fashion brand that customers ask for by name. I wish them and their thousands of employees the best of luck with this change.

  1. lol, it will take her a year to learn the job. Another year floating her resume looking for a new job in law. What a joke. Might as well sell it to the Chinese.
